Hi, my name is Xin Yi (she/her).

Xin Yi leaning against the railing by a pond, set against a lush and yet metropolitan background with high rises and a ton of greenery.

I help multicultural and international teams strengthen connection, communication, and collaboration through the power of storytelling. Using culture and mobility audits, leadership development, and tailored learning experiences, I support global organizations in building equitable, thriving workplace cultures where relationships become a catalyst rather than a source of conflict.

For much of my early life, I searched for a sense of belonging. Unlike many, I did not feel at home where I was born. My curiosity and questioning of how the world works was not welcomed in the spaces I was in, and so I travelled. I discovered the practice of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and social justice in 2018, and that’s what I dedicated the rest of my twenties to - advising organizations and activating communities to build an equitable world.

As I took on assignments in countries spread over 2 continents, it became clear to me that conversations have the power to connect.

Stories connect.

Regardless of differences and first impressions, walls between people crumble as they share about their lives and similarities start to surface. My international experience and perspectives thus shaped my vision and the belief in its fulfilment drives my work.

I believe in a world where everyone shares collective ownership in shaping workplace cultures.

My belief in collective ownership was shaped by my work experiences and those around me. Organizations, even with the best intentions, often miss the mark on building cultures where everyone feels like their voice truly matters.

The most prevalent sentiment I've heard about workplace culture? "I see the problem and I have the solution, but who am I to fix it?"

Now, I'm on a mission to nurture collective ownership of organizational cultures through storytelling. When I say 'collective ownership,' it's not this kumbaya kind of environment. I'm referring to a workplace where everyone is accountable in shaping the workspaces they are in.

Together, we can create cultures where everyone has a role to play—and, in turn, a more equitable, connected world.

Who am I beyond my work? 🤔

  • Prior to my BsBA in Big Data & Business Analytics and Global Business, I attained a diploma (associates’ degree in the Northern Hemisphere) in Tourism & Resort Management and spent 2 years in hospitality. I didn’t want to stay within the Singaporean education system, but I also needed, at minimum, a tertiary education to be employable. So I chose the one that allowed me to expand my horizons and meet people without leaving the country.

  • … sort of. I’m an avid pickleball player! I bring my gear with me wherever I go to play (luckily, they’re light). So far, I’ve played in 3 countries! 🇺🇸🇸🇬🇨🇦

  • I modelled for a friend’s fashion show in support of her ventures. The static shot was featured in a Singapore museum for a while. My only regret is not taking photos of it being displayed!
